CVE-2020-9122
About
Some Huawei products have an insufficient input verification vulnerability. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability in the LAN to cause service abnormal on affected devices.Affected product versions include:HiRouter-CD30-10 version 10.0.2.5;HiRouter-CT31-10 version 10.0.2.20;WS5200-12 version 10.0.1.9;WS5281-10 version 10.0.5.10;WS5800-10 version 10.0.3.25;WS7100-10 version 10.0.5.21;WS7200-10 version 10.0.5.21.
Rainforest analyst review
Several Huawei home-router models fail to sufficiently verify input, and an attacker on the LAN can exploit that to make the device behave abnormally. The vector is adjacent-network with an availability-only impact, so this is a same-network disruption bug, not a takeover.
The adjacency requirement meaningfully bounds the threat: an attacker has to already be on the local network to reach the vulnerable surface, and even then the outcome is degraded service rather than data theft or control. That's a limited blast radius.
We rank this down given both the LAN-only reach and the DoS-only impact. The practical follow-through is a firmware inventory across the listed HiRouter and WS-series models so affected units get updated in routine cycles, without treating it as an urgent exposure.
