Rainforest analyst review
Another Baidu UEditor flaw, this one a cross-site scripting issue in the catchimage action of the PHP controller, where a manipulated source argument leads to script execution. Like its sibling, it's rated low and gated by authentication and user interaction, with only a limited integrity impact, so it's a narrow XSS rather than a serious injection vector.
The recurring theme is that UEditor is legacy software the vendor has stopped engaging with, so a public exploit sits unpatched. Still, the low score and stacked preconditions mean this is opportunistic-XSS material at most — dependent on an authenticated context and a victim's interaction — not something that draws automated mass exploitation or leads to takeover on its own.
We treat this together with the other UEditor bug as one signal: the risk isn't either individual CVE but continuing to run an unmaintained editor. Our practical stance is to find where UEditor lives in our applications and plan its removal, since new unpatched flaws in it will keep appearing. In the meantime, standard output encoding and CSP around the component limit the reach of any injected script.
