CVE-2026-34909

About

A malicious actor with access to the network could exploit a Path Traversal vulnerability found in UniFi OS devices to access files on the underlying system that could be manipulated to access an underlying account.

Weakness (CWE):CWE-22

Rainforest analyst review

This is a path traversal vulnerability in UniFi OS devices. A network-adjacent attacker uses directory-traversal sequences to make the device read files on the underlying system outside the intended directory, and those files can be manipulated to gain access to an underlying account on the device. The traversal turns a file-access primitive into account compromise, and because it requires only network access to the device rather than valid credentials, anyone able to reach the management surface is in scope.

UniFi OS runs Ubiquiti's gateways, cloud keys, and network video recorders, devices that sit at the center of a network as the router, controller, or camera hub and often hold administrative reach over the rest of the deployment, so account access on one is a strong pivot. The wide range of affected models, from Dream Machine gateways to UNAS storage and NVR appliances, means many networks have at least one exposed unit. Apply Ubiquiti's firmware updates across all affected devices, ensure the UniFi management interfaces are not reachable from the internet and are restricted to trusted networks, and review device accounts and logs for unauthorized access after patching.
